Service-Learning & Community Engagement in the Philippines
This program offers U.S. students across all disciplines an immersive service-learning experience that combines academic learning with meaningful community engagement in Dumaguete City, Philippines. Hosted by Silliman University’s Office of Community Engagement and Service-Learning (OCESL), participants work alongside local communities while exploring social responsibility, sustainable development, and global citizenship through experiential learning and structured reflection.
Flexible (1 week to several weeks, depending on institutional requirements)
Open to undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines with an interest in community engagement, intercultural learning, and global citizenship.

Community Environment
Participants engage with local communities, schools, government agencies, and civil society organizations through supervised service-learning activities.
Professional Conduct
Participants are expected to uphold Silliman University, community partner, and CSAP/Fulbright standards of professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and ethical community engagement.
Safety
Orientation, site monitoring, and ongoing supervision ensure participants are supported throughout community placements and field activities.
